Self Description

I’m Yang Fu also known as Kelvan, and I will be graduating from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Financial Informatics with a specialization in Banking & Finance. I’m a disciplined, motivated and friendly person who has the passion to excel. I ensure that I put in a 101% effort in everything I do and is eager to learn more to improve. I chose Financial Informatics as my polytechnic course because I can get exposed to 2 different industries between banking and technology. This allows me to widen up my options when choosing a career path. Personally, I have stronger interests in the field of banking. Hopefully getting into this course would allow me to attain new experiences and equip me with better knowledge, as I embark on this life-long journey.

Internship Experience

I was privileged enough to have my 5-month internship at Singapore Management University, working under the Project Head of SMU Teaching Bank, Professor Alan Megargel. The purpose of this internship was to develop and update the various applications of tBank and some applications that I worked on along with my team would be the Retail Mobile Banking and Corporate Internet Banking. Through this internship, I was able to gain technical knowledge such as Java and JavaScript programming languages, as well as organizational knowledge such as effective communication with the boss. Furthermore, I realized how digitalization is on the rise and how it will greatly shape the world towards a new era. I have no doubt that Fintech will be the future of the economy, and knowing that change is inevitable, I know that I am well equipped with the knowledge and capability to adapt on what’s to come. With a thankful heart, I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 months of internship with all the help and support rendered.
