I am a Year 3 student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of Infocommm Technology, taking a diploma in Information Security and Forensics.
Being an individual who loves helping people, I decided to be in the cybersecurity industry to learn how to prevent malware attacks, and how to prevent myself from getting tricked online.
In the future, I could use the knowledge I gained to help others from being a victim of phishing scams and hopefully produce products such as antivirus software so that others will be protected from malware.
I consider myself to be an open-minded and understanding individual who works well in teams. I am always open to other people's opinions and feedback on any topics or issues. In addition, I always make sure that no one is excluded from a discussion and that everyone is given a chance to express their thoughts. Through group projects, I have acquired good communication skills and became a more responsible individual by doing the parts given to me with good quality and submitting assignments on time.

During my study in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I was given the opportunity to attend various industry talks which helped me to find out more information about the Information Technology industry in Singapore, particularly those relating to cybersecurity. For instance, we were given the opportunity to attend two FinTech Festivals where I learnt new things like Big Data, and Cryptocurrency, and acquired further knowledge on how industries secure their systems. Furthermore, the school also invited companies like KPMG and EY which gave us insights on what we could potentially work as in the future.
Career Networking SessionsWe were given opportunities to practice on networking through the Career Preparation module and through the career networking session conducted by the school. These opportunities allowed us to know the proper etiquette on how to approach people during the career networking session, and allowed us to have experience in networking. Moreover, we also got more information on the different companies that are in the cybersecurity industry and we got to interact with those who have working experience in the industry.
